Mapua Heights Cottage Nelson New Zealand

Two bedroom, self-contained accommodation

Mapua Heights Cottage has two bedrooms and a light and warm feel. It sleeps a family of four comfortably. It is built on principles of passive thermal design. Timber from local and renewable sources is used extensively in ceilings and joinery, and is largely finished with natural oils. while its floors are either carpeted or tiled. Many of the windows and doors are recycled. New Zealand art and sculpture feature in the cottage.

The kitchen/dining and living room is open plan, and is fully-equipped, with all you may need, including electric oven and stove-top, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, High definition TV and DVD player. A pot-belly stove keeps the whole cottage cozy in the winter, with a sturdy guard available if needed.

The main bedroom has a queen-size bed and plenty of wardrobe space, and the smaller second bedroom can be twin or single-bedded (it contains a king single bed with pull-out, full-height single trundler bed). A portacot is also available.

The stylish bathroom has a lovely wooden vanity, shower over a bath and washing machine.

Outside, there is a generous deck and garden area where you can sit, relax and enjoy a drink (perhaps a local wine) or a barbeque. Take time to watch the sunsets. As the views of sea and mountains fade, watch the twinkling lights of Nelson emerge and be mesmerised by the stars of the Milky Way and Southern Cross in our dramatic night sky.

Extensive native planting and a large area of regenerating bush attracts native birds such as tui, fantail, silvereye and at certain times of year bellbird, shining cuckoo and a New Zealand falcon. We even have glow-worms in our gully - Ken is happy to be your guide! Deer and sheep graze our paddocks - let us introduce you.

There is a carport adjacent to the cottage.

Mapua Heights Cottage is a non-smoking facility, and we are not able to accommodate pets.
